Bielska Gallery BWA, Bielsko-Biala, Poland is pleased to announce a competition for participation in an artistic residence "Incydenty 2009".

The program of residencies is focused on Polish and Norwegian artists, its goal being to create objects in the public space within the city of Bielsko-Biala: sculptures, installations, murals, etc. Projects submitted for competition must relate to the specific theme of Bielsko-Biala - its geographical location on the border, multicultural history, associated with the current transition of the City or relate to a vision of its future.
"Incydenty 2009" is one of the artistic activities in the framework of the "Locomotive - cluster development strategy" project, run by the BWA Gallery Bielska in partnership with the Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Bielsko-Biala, ATH in Bielsko-Biala and Oslo Teknopol, co-financed by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism.
„Incydenty 2009" is the fourth edition of the artists' residency. The first two editions were held in Cieszyn and Czech Cieszyn (in 2006 organized by the Silesian Castle of Art and Enterprise, and KASS Střelnice), third edition, called "Incydenty 3x3 " - in Wakefield in the UK (in 2008, organized by The Art House in collaboration with Bielska Gallery BWA).
The artist residency "Incydenty 2009" involves professional artists and art graduates from Poland and Norway. Participants will be selected for the residency programme by Bielska Gallery  BWA in partnership with 0047 from Oslo http://0047.org/ and Hordaland Kunstsenter from Bergen www.kunstsenter.no.
The residency also involves the participation of a visiting well-known artist - "master", who will work for three days with a group of artists-residents and will give an open lecture to other artists and external visitors.
Accommodation, board, fees and costs of the material will be covered by the gallery Bielska BWA. The preview night of all art objects made by artists from Norway and Poland situated within the Bielsko-Biala city space will take place on Thursday, 1st of October 2009.
