„Bielska Jesień" (Bielska Autumn) is a competition with a long tradition. Bielska Gallery BWA in Bielsko-Biala is the organizer of since the very beginning. The first edition was held in 1962, through the time it has become one of the most important competitions in Poland devoted to modern painting.

Since 1995 the competition is named a Biennial of Painting "Bielska Jesien". It has an open formula, does not impose a theme, problem, technology or the age of the participants. Artists are obligated to submit paintings made in the last two years. Biennial enjoys great popularity among artists. The best works selected by the jury and presented in the exhibition. The patron of this competition is Minister of Culture and National Heritage and the Mayor of the Bielsko-Biala City.
39 edition of Painting Biennial "Bielska Jesien 2009" is held in the year 2009.
