This exhibition of paintings by Stefan Gierowski, an outstanding representative of contemporary painting avant-garde, referred to as the classic of Polish modernity. The exhibition presents one of the specific aspects of the painter's interests - the line.

This theme has been present in the artist's work for decades, starting from the 1960s, when the line was used to set the directions of light.

In the 1970s and 90s, his lines were designed to determine different fields of colour. His paintings of the 1980s and 90s show white "paths" which the artist delineated with mathematical precision against dark backgrounds, During the following two decades this "energy" became weakened, as Gierowski began to use greys or even abandoned black in favour of examining tensions between black and white in vibrating colourful spaces.
