Artists had until 18 May to submit their entries for the competition for the best mural on the wall of a ten-storey block of flats at ul. Morskie Oko 23, osiedle Karpackie, Bielsko-Biała, which will be implemented as part of the project "oBBraz miasta # 2".
The entries were to be inspired by the Tatra / Carpathian Mountains and Morskie Oko - both featuring in the address of the building (the latter being the lake in the Tatras).
The winner was Ilona Krieser with her illusionist, and at the same time minimalist, mural showing a chamois standing on an icy cliff rock.

The artist writes: "The project alludes to Mount Mnich towering over Lake Morskie Oko. The monochromatic character of the painting has been inspired by the mountain's perennial snow which, in my view, reflects the severity of the Tatras, as well as that of a metropolitan residential block. The realistic portrayal of the chamois adds some warmth to the chilling character of the mural."

Ilona Krieser is an artist living in Bielsko-Biała and a graduate of the Artistic Education Department of the Art Institute of the Silesia University in Cieszyn. She has experience in creating artwork at heights and has a passion for mountain climbing which she pursues in her free time, conquering Poland's peaks.
The artist will soon begin her work on the mural, even before the start of the summer holiday. It will be one of three murals completed in this year's "oBBraz miasta # 2" project, which will appear by the end of August on the walls of houses in the city centre. The making of the mural will be partly financed by the Osiedle Karpackie Housing Association.
There were a total of 34 entries to the competition by various artists and artists and artistic groups from Poland and abroad.
The "oBBraz miasta # 2" project is co-funded by the Municipality of Bielsko-Biała.
