The National Biennale of Drawing and Painting by Students of Secondary Schools of Art is organised by the Art School in Bielsko-Biała and includes works by students of public and private secondary schools of art, as well as post-secondary art school students. The Biennale showcases both technical skills and creative aspirations of young visual artists. The jury includes professors of Polish academies of fine arts who award the Grand Prix, as well as the three major prizes in the fields of painting and drawing.

This time round the Competition Committee was chaired by Professor Józef Budka of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. The jury also included Professor Kazimierz Cieślik of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, PhD. Piotr Korzeniowski, Dean of the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków and Professor Andrzej Zdanowicz, Dean of the Faculty of Painting at the University of Arts in Poznań. The jury received a total of 652 works, including 319 drawings and 333 paintings, from 37 art schools in Poland.

The Grand Prix went to Piotr Desperak of the School of Fine Arts in Częstochowa for his work entitled Figure on a Chair - a figurative composition showing a reclining nude, painted schematically in the contrasting colours of white, black and red. The winner's teacher is Jacek Pałucha.

Also, three main prizes were awarded in the category of painting.The First Prize went to Klaudia Pisarek of the School of Arts in Katowice for the painting Belvedere (teacher Piotr Kossakowski), the Second Prize to Piotr Myśliwiec of the College of Arts in Bydgoszcz for the work Welding (teacher Tadeusz Hassek); and the Third Prize to Paulina Kowol of the School of Arts in Katowice for the painting On the Balcony (teacher Beata Hanslik-Janiszewska).

The winners of the awards in the drawing category were: the First Prize - Katarzyna Sawicka of the Secondary School of Art in Supraśl for the work Shadow (teacher Beata Wilczyńska); the Second Prize - Justyna Korzeń of the School of Arts in Bielsko-Biała for Self-Portrait II (teacher Tadeusz Król), the Third Prize - Jakub Baracz of the School of Arts in Koszalin for the drawing entitled Figure (teacher Tadeusz Walczak).

The exhibition shows all the award-winning works.
