Solo Exhibition of painting by the winner of the Gallery Director's Award presented during the 3rd Visual Arts Festival in Bielsko-Biała, 2014. The artist will display her works from the painting cycles she has been working on for years, including Women in Lace, Friendship or Love? and Folk is Trendy. She uses her own technique, combining painting and fabric. Thanks to the use of superimposed images made of translucent fabrics, which are then painted and embroidered, Czernek achieves the effect of fabric-like softness and decorativeness. Although the artist has been using this technique consistently for many years, she never ceases to experiment and search for new solutions.

For this exhibition Karina Czernek has prepared a series of large "screen paintings" which allow the viewer to see the effect of interpenetration of planes on both sides of each work, the two sides complementing each other to creating an inseparable whole. The artist uses highly transparent silks and decorative fabrics for industrial use.

"My new paintings focus mainly on the character of Woman emerging from patterned fabrics. Some of the works show the whole of her, others only some bits and pieces. what I'm trying to achieve is capture the complexity of feminine nature, not only the obvious beauty of women, but also their subtlety, delicacy and femininity, tenderness and sensuality, or even eroticism; and sometimes also their vulgarity, sadness, and the feeling of loss and loneliness ... The technique I use helps me reveal and highlight the unique nature of women. The effect of understatement and the atmosphere which I'm trying to achieve with the use of superimposed transparent fabrics are intended to enhance the aura of mystery which surrounds women" - says Karina Czernek.

Karina Czernek was born in Katowice in 1973; degree from the University of Silesia, Faculty of Pedagogy and Fine Arts in Cieszyn; honours' degree in painting under Professor Jerzy Wroński in 1998. Her artistic pursuits include painting and weaving; also creates illustrations for children's books and runs art classes for children and young adults.
The artist has five solo and ten group exhibitions to her name; twice qualified for the Biennale of Painting "Bielska Jesień" held in Galeria Bielska BWA (2005, 2011); winner of the Gallery Directo's Award at the 3rd Visual Art Festival, held in Bielsko-Biała in 2014. She lives in Bielsko-Biała.
